Day 9: I'm Doing It
Weak, tired, exhausted, sick. I'm doing it.
I started this 10-day writing challenge out of the desire and determination to build myself. I knew that showing up for it every single day for 10 days would not be easy, but I did not expect it to be this difficult.
I have had a very busy past couple of days. When I wasn’t busy last week, I was under the weather. It has been back to back working and sorting out things in my life. Today, I went out to do something that should have taken at most 6 hours. But it ended up taking 11 hours. Those extra 5 hours cost me a lot! I had so many plans for those 5 hours. There were so many things that I was supposed to do in those 5 hours, now I have so many pending things on my to-do list. I got home around past 10pm which is beyond me because I absolutely detest night movement, and where I live makes it (night movement) all the more stressful. Also, the state of insecurity in the nation Nigeria which is where I live is not one to be gambled with. But I did not really have a choice, and thankfully, where I went was not too far from my house — it was far but not too far— so there was not much panic in the air. My point though is, I was outside from morning till night and I got home super late, exhausted, with a headache that is making my head feel like it’s on fire, and sleep in my system. I ate dinner, freshened up and asked myself, “What do you mean I still have to write for Substack this night?”
With less than 1 hour till the end of the day, I put on my laptop and started writing this piece. I am unbelievably tired right now, but I could not miss day 9 or postpone it to tomorrow. Since I started this writing challenge, there have been similar days to this one. Days that were so long and exhausting that I only had the chance to write at night and I would spend hours in front of my computer just to try and write something that makes even if it is little sense. Sometimes, I was too tired to think clearly of what to write about. I would start something then it would not make enough sense and I would cancel and start all over. It has been a very challenging couple of days with this challenge. And honestly, I am just proud of myself for showing up regardless. No day was easy. But I have made it to day 9 and I am about to make it to day 10. Thank You, Jesus.
Talk to you tomorrow.
With warmth & joy,
Jayne Eddy.
